Chapter 4.

By Almostdefinitely.

Just up ahead, Alex could see Dean was pulling into a roadside diner. Looking in her rear view mirror, to make sure she was clear to pull in, she followed.

"Hmm, we seem to be stopping before the half way…" She muttered to herself as she parked her car and checked her phone. 11:34 am. "We shouldn't be taking a break until at least 12:30…" Still muttering to herself, Alex nearly jumped out of her skin when Dean ran up and banged on her window.

Turning to face him, she prepared to unleash one of her famous scowls. That plan fell through the moment she saw Deans face. He was grinning so widely, and his eyes looked like they were made of glitter. No, really. Green glitter. Both his palms were pressed flat against her window and he was mere inches from her window.

Rolling her window down, Alex calmly asked what was happening.

"Just got a call from Bobby. He said some group of hunters tracked the shapeshifter down themselves last night, and wanted to let him know incase he sent someone. Now I know it sounds strange, but these hunters check out. Sam said that Dad knew their uncle or something… mentioned that their name was listed in dad's journal under contacts. So, me and Sam have decided, since the motel is already paid for, for the next week, that we will take a well-earned holiday, and rest up. Wha'dya think?" He grinned down at her.

Alex was in shock. "Um, okay? First off, since when do you like resting up? And second, you sure the shapshifter was taken care off? I mean, this has never once happened to us…don't hunters know if somebody is hunting in a certain place, or whatever?"

Dean rolled his eyes at her. "Ok sour puss. I like to rest occasionally, all right?" He glared at her, as if challenging her to disagree before continuing on. "Also, yes, it is pretty rare for something like this to happen, but it does happen. So, I say, lets go out tonight. Have some well-earned fun. That right Sammy?" Dean yelled over to Sam as he got out of Deans car and started walking over to them.

"Er, yes. Wait, what am I agreeing to?"  He looked lost. Alex almost laughed at his expression.

"Dean here, thinks we should have some fun tonight, hit the town, ya'know?" Alex looked down at her lap. Suddenly she felt crushed. Her heart ached. 'Fun' for Dean meant beer, boobs, and banging chicks. She couldn't look at Dean anymore now. She could feel tears prickling behind her eyes and she turned away from her window to pet Morgan.

"Eh Dean, didn't you mention something about getting fuel for your baby?" Sam asked Dean while he knelt down outside Alex's door.

Alex tensed up straight away. If Sam noticed her change in mood, maybe Dean did too. And if he did, he would pester her for answers until her ears bled. She waited for Dean to reply to Sam.

"Crap, Thanks for reminding me Sammy. Have to fill her up. Hey, do you guys want anything from inside? Coffee? Food? Coffee? I want a coffee. I love coffee." Dean didn't seem to notice Alex's change in mood at all.

'Phew'. She let herself relax a tiny bit.

"Eh, nothing for me Dean. Alex?"

Alex heard Sam talking to her, and shook her head. "Eh, no thanks."  Truthfully? When they had pulled in at this place, she had been hungry but her need of food wasn't there anymore. She continued to pet Morgan, who loved the attention. His tongue was hanging out of his mouth, and he looked like he was in heaven as she scratched behind his ear. 'Jeez Al, three words was all you could muster? Get a grip, or Dean will cop on.' She mentally scolded herself.

Upon hearing Deans footsteps walk away, Alex slowly turned back to face Sam. He was the only person, in the whole wide world who knew how she felt. He also happened to be one of the only people she knew, but that's beside the point.

"What's up?" She sighed. Sam was staring at her, frowning, with that sad face of his. Alex hated people feeling sorry for her. "Sam, stop, you know I don't like it when you feel bad for me and my shitty love life." She glared at him, making her point clear.

If Sam knew only one thing about Alex? It was to never ask how she was feeling.

"I know, its just I wish my best friend wasn't so torn up about my brothers love life, and I wish my brother wasn't so clueless." He rested his arms on her open window. "You know, if you wanted, you could get him. When Dean mentioned the new plan to me, I knew what was going to happen, so, I started thinking. I think I have a plan, but you have to go with it, if you want it to work. Deal?" Sam held his hand out, waiting for her to shake on it.

For a few moments, Alex looked at his open palm. Sam was her best friend. She trusted him. Loved him. Believed in him. So why did she feel scared all of a sudden? Slowly, she moved her gaze up to his face. She was met with intense green. Similar shade to Deans, but different. Sam's eyes were full of love and care. With a hint of mischief. She took his hand.

"Sam Winchester, you better have an awesome plan, or I will kick your sorry ass until it's blue. Kinda like my car. I have one condition. Ride with me in my car, and tell me the plan on the way, as dear old Dean is heading our way." Alex quickly waved at him after letting go of Sam's hand and started up her car. She waited the few minutes it took for Sam to explain that he wanted to stay with Alex for a bit. Looking at them talking, Alex wondered what excuse Sam was telling Dean. He bought it anyway, as he waved back at her, and signalled for her to follow closely. 'Jeez, don't I always?' she thought.

Sam took Morgan out and led him to Dean's car. If Sam was going with Alex, having a fully-grown Alsatian and a gigantic Sam in one car was abit of a tight squeeze.

Once they were settled, Dean pulled off, and Alex followed. This time, Sam took control of her ipod.

"Okay, Sammy boy. Tell us of your genius plan."

Sam turned in his seat to face her, and began to talk.
